- Six municipalities: Vågan, Vestvågøy, Flakstad, Moskenes, Værøy, Røst; about 24,800 residents (2026, SNL).
- The E10 runs 163 km from Fiskebøl to Å; Svolvær to Reine is about 2 hours by car, Svolvær to Å about 2.5 hours.
- Svolvær (about 4,800 residents) is the largest town and the start point of most tours. Reine has under 300 residents.

## Corrections to claims found elsewhere

- 'Oslo to Lofoten is about 1,200 km' is Oslo to Bodø; Oslo to Svolvær by road is about 1,450 km.
- Reinebringen is 448 m, not 484 m.
- White-tailed eagles span 200-240 cm (SNL), not 2.65 m as some listings say.
- Lofoten is not brutally cold: winter days often sit between -5 and +3 C. Wind and rain are the issue.
- Polar night is not 24-hour darkness: clear days bring several hours of twilight.
- Reliable whale watching is at Andenes in Vesterålen, not in Lofoten itself.
